Thanks to its innovative design, the AD series has reduced structural deformation of the machine to a minimum, bringing out the acceleration, the performance and the speed of the linear drive motors. In addition, the distinctive independent structure of the X and Y axes, with its intelligent and effective design, makes it possible to obtain longer travels within a smaller footprint, with a consequent increase in machining accuracy. The LN3 control system, with an innovative and ergonomic 15″ screen, has the capacity to manage speed, high precision and high machining efficiency.

The generator is equipped with the new “SGF Plus” discharge unit and is designed to optimise performance with both copper and graphite electrodes: it eliminates wear, maximises machining speed and delivers high-quality performance.

The linear motor is a direct drive, a vibration-free device with acceleration values and positioning accuracy free of backlash and of response delays. Its remarkable characteristics of dynamic response, stability and precision do not deteriorate over time and require no maintenance of any kind. The high performance of the linear motors is enhanced further by the “Motion Controller (K-SMC)” system.

Ceramic components are used in the AD series, the ideal material to guarantee extreme rigidity, electrical insulation where required, high precision and wear resistance.

The Sodick AD series comprises the AD35L and AD55L linear-motor die-sinking EDM machines, designed for precision work both in the die and mould sector and in high-end general engineering. The AD35L is sized for workpieces up to 550 kg and is fitted with a 4-position shuttle tool changer, suited to work with frequent electrode changes on small batches. The AD55L extends the capability of the series, taking the maximum workpiece weight to 1,000 kg and the shuttle changer to 6 positions, for greater unattended running on longer cycles or more demanding parts. In both cases the linear motor technology of the AD range guarantees the dynamics and repeatability required by precision die-sinking EDM, leaving the user to choose between the more compact model and the higher-capacity one according to the weight of the parts and the number of electrodes to be handled unattended.
