Sodick K

The K series of micro-drilling machines comprises three models:

the K1C-S model is a visualised manual machine, the K3HS model is equipped with CNC control, an automatic electrode changing device and automatic tube wear control, while the K4HL is a machine intended for high-speed precision micro-drilling, with high accuracy and surface quality; fitted as standard with linear motors on the X, Y and Z axes, it was developed by making full use of the experience and know-how the company has built up in over twenty years in the EDM field. It is also equipped with state-of-the-art automation systems that allow continuous, extended machining of holes of different sizes.

These machines are specially designed to perform microholes on hard materials; the ultra-fast execution speed allows a much faster process than conventional methods.

They allow high performance even on materials such as hardened steel or tungsten carbide, using electrodes with diameters from 0.25 mm to 3.0 mm.

The particularly compact configuration allows the user to save space in the production environment.

The use of patented non-combustible dielectric (VITOL-KS) enables a high degree of safety to be achieved in all machining conditions.

On the K3HS and K4HL models the LN Assist automatic programming system is standard; its graphic screen simplifies all setting and programming operations. The LN Assist software manages a series of calculations and macro-functions such that operators can easily manage different types of drilling layouts and create complex machining programmes.

The Sodick K series brings together small-hole EDM drilling machines working with a tubular electrode, here in the K1C, K3HS and K4HL models. The most compact K1C offers travels of 200 x 300 x 300 mm on a 250 x 350 mm table and parts up to 100 kg.

The K3HS model rises to travels of 300 x 400 x 300 mm on a 480 x 790 mm table and parts up to 300 kg, with an LK2 CNC (optional 8-axis LK20).

The K4HL has travels of 400 x 300 x 500 mm with a 750 x 650 mm ceramic table that can take parts up to 500 kg, with an SPK or SPK-E CNC for control of up to 8 axes (optional).

The first two models are the ideal solution for quickly producing start holes for wire cutting or coolant-passage holes.

The K4HL is dedicated to precision micro-drilling aimed mainly at the aerospace, energy, medical and electronic semiconductor sectors; its many functions deliver high productivity in unattended operation.
