Shigiya GSU 30/40 B

The Shigiya GSU-30B has been designed and built according to the latest technological standards, in order to meet customers' production requirements. Its versatility, ease of programming thanks to the Shigiya interactive system, and the Fanuc CNC make the GSU-30B one of the most effective solutions for grinding both single parts and small and medium batches: an easy-to-use tool, designed around the operator's needs. The high-rigidity wheelhead is made of top-quality cast iron and houses the wheel spindle, a hydrodynamic type built entirely by Shigiya.

Nine wheelhead configurations are available. In the standard configuration the wheelhead travels on flat-and-V slideways coated with anti-friction PTFE material to ensure small increments and high rigidity; hydrostatic slideways are available as an option. Axial movement is driven by a ball screw coupled to a servo motor, and the axis position is controlled by an optical scale. The spindle bearing lubrication unit, separate from the rest of the machine, prevents heat transfer into the head caused by rising oil temperature.

High rigidity and extremely low vibration are its strengths. The Shigiya GSU series brings together CNC universal grinders available in two sizes, GSU-30B and GSU-40B, with a swing of 300 mm and 410 mm respectively.

The universal design combines external and internal grinding on the same machine, so that a single series covers a wider range of operations on cylindrical components, from the GSU-30B up to the larger GSU-40B.

On both series the distance between centres starts from a minimum of 500 mm and reaches up to 1,500 mm, and the maximum workpiece weight is 150 kg, figures that make the series suited to precision grinding of medium-to-large shafts, pins and rotating parts, with the option of choosing the size best matched to the dimensions of the workpiece.
