Sodick AQ15L

Alongside the wire range sits the AQ15L model, a large-format die-sinking EDM machine with travels of 900 mm on the X axis, 1,500 mm on the Y axis and 600 mm on the Z axis, able to handle workpieces up to 10,000 kg.

This large machine with a compact layout is supplied in five separate units. The front part of the machine and the work tank are completely integrated into the machine body, allowing the head to be free of the working area and therefore giving a greater workpiece loading capacity, which can reach 10,000 kg.

The work table is a fixed bed, thus eliminating any possible distortion during machining. The gantry structure, symmetrical on X and Y, gives it rigidity; the optical scales and the linear motors on all axes allow greater speed and positioning accuracy.

The Sodick AQ15L is a large-size die-sinking EDM machine ('Large Size Die Sinker EDM') driven by linear motors. Travels are 900 x 1,500 x 600 mm (with an additional 500 mm of service stroke on the Y axis), on a 1,000 x 2,000 mm table and with a workpiece weight up to 10,000 kg. It works on four axes with oil dielectric and a step resolution down to 0.0001 mm, with a maximum electrode weight of 100 kg. A platform designed for dies and components that call for large dimensional capacity and precision.

The AQ Premium series thus covers both wire-cutting needs on bulky components and, with the AQ15L, electrode machining on complex large-format geometries, sharing the same construction approach focused on precision through linear motors.
