The sliding headstock lathes of the SR series feature the traditional characteristics of a Swiss-Type lathe with the addition of the possibility of sliding headstock machining, all with state-of-the-art STAR technology.
In addition to the simultaneous front/back machining of turning, drilling, tapping and milling, it is possible to perform drilling, milling.
The Star SR series brings together sliding-headstock (Swiss-type) automatic lathes with FANUC CNC for precision bar turning, spanning several sizes to cover different diameter and part-length needs. The entry model SR-10J type C machines up to 135 mm of bar capacity (105 mm with rotary guide bush), while the SR-20JII/SR-20RIV type E range extends the working length up to 205 mm with guide bush, reducible to 50 mm in guide-bushless configuration, thanks to the switchable guide-bush/no-guide-bush arrangement. Moving up in size, the SR-32JIII type B and SR-38 type B reach 320 mm of bar capacity with guide bush (80 mm and 95 mm respectively without guide bush), and additionally offer a retractable guide bush, extending bar capacity to 286.5 mm on the SR-32JIII and 288 mm on the SR-38. Across the range, the guide bush can therefore be configured to the job at hand: fixed, rotary, switchable, or retractable.
