The SL series sliding headstock lathes offer the traditional features of a Swiss-Type lathe, all combined with STAR’s cutting-edge technology.
In addition to simultaneous front/back turning, drilling, tapping and milling operations, drilling and milling can also be carried out.
The Star SL series, with the SL-10 model, is dedicated to small-diameter bar machining. Machining reaches ø10 mm and the main spindle runs up to 18,000 rpm with the Stationary G.B. unit (15,000 rpm with Revolving G.B.), at 3.7 kW continuous (5.5 kW peak). The headstock stroke is 135 mm with Stationary G.B. (105 mm with Revolving G.B.) and the tool post holds 6 tools, with a 4-position cartridge. The sub-spindle works up to 12,000 rpm and rapid feeds reach 35 m/min. At 1,600 kg and a very small footprint, the SL-10 is the machine for micro-parts.
