The SX series computer numerically controlled sliding headstock lathe combines the traditional features of a Swiss-type lathe with STAR's state-of-the-art technology, thus offering the possibility of simultaneous front/back machining operations of turning, drilling, tapping and milling, as well as machining with three tools in cut.
This series has a turret that can work on both the main spindle and the counter spindle, and it also features a B axis on the gang tool post
The Star SX series, with the SX-38 model, takes sliding-headstock (Swiss-type) technology to larger diameters. Machining reaches ø38 mm with Revolving G.B. (up to ø42 mm with N.G.B. type) and a 320 mm headstock stroke, while the main spindle reaches 7,000 rpm at 7.5 kW continuous (11 kW peak). The machine is offered in Gang type (4 turning tools + 8 power-driven tools) or Turret type (10 stations, up to 2 tools per station). Rapid feeds reach 30 m/min and the control manages the turret XYZ axes with C-axis indexing.
